I have just had the pleasure of selling my first meteorite wedding band for a man. It was stunning. Several years ago I sold a lady’s two tone Rolex which had a meteorite dial on it. My wife and I felt that this was the overall best looking lady’s watch we have ever sold. The dial was striking with the watch. This was the only time that I have sold meteorite in jewelry, until now.
About a month ago a very nice couple came to see me from Kingsport, TN. They were looking for a custom jeweler to help them with their wedding bands and after going to several different jewelers they had someone refer them to me. Her band needed to be made with just the right size and number of diamonds to fit up against her ring. We ended up making her a shared prong diamond band with the same quality of diamonds as what is in her engagement ring and it matches up beautifully with her designer engagement ring.
He wanted something different for his wedding band. We discussed wood options, different metals, and so forth. He liked the idea of at least on diamond in it. As I searched different items from my manufacturers, I came across meteorite bands. It was perfect. It was very unique, virtually no one here has one, and it can be made with a bezel set diamond in it. We decided upon black zirconium for the ring. This gives it a pure black metal that is black all of the way through and scratch resistant. The middle inlay of the ring is from the Gibeon meteorite which hit Namibia, Africa in prehistoric times. This meteorite has a high iron content along with some nickel and cobalt. Every piece of it has a unique pattern of lines, so everything made with it is unique and a work of art. No meteorite rings are alike, so this ring will never be duplicated. We can come close, but they are all different in design and texture. This is a one of a kind ring.
