Colored Gemstone Engagement Rings

Home » News » Colored Gemstone Engagement Rings

For many years nearly all engagement rings were diamonds. While diamonds are still a tradition for the center gem many clients prefer other gemstones for their center stone. I have had the pleasure of designing several beautiful colored gemstone engagement rings lately. I have also recently read in one of my trade publications that colored gemstones are gaining popularity for the engagement ring around the world.

The image below is of a Morganite engagement ring. This was done in 14k rose gold with a sculpted halo of diamonds surrounding it. Morganite is a natural for rose gold. The halo took me a while to design but it was worth it. The diamonds at 12, 3, 6, and 9 are slightly larger to fill in all of the space. This ring was designed to eventually have stackable wedding bands with it. The Morganite is a beautiful peachy-orange color.

The second ring (image above) is a pear shaped opal with a diamond halo. This couple lives in North Carolina. The young lady’s family has been both friends and long time clients of mine. When the time came for him to propose, he called me because her family had spoken of me many times. Michelle and I just happened to be going to Asheville the following week so we decided to meet for lunch. We met at a nice cafe in downtown Asheville and they gave us the perfect table with privacy so that I could show him different opals and a model of the proposed ring. I took about a dozen different pear shaped opals with me. After he looked through all of them he chose this one. It has a wonderful color and was perfect to bezel set. I brought it home and designed this ring with a halo of diamonds surrounding it. He proposed soon after I finished the ring and she loved it. I am now working on a rose gold wedding band to fit up to this ring.

I am currently working on a sapphire engagement ring. There are a host of wonderful and beautiful gemstones just waiting for the right girl such as Lotus garnet, Mint green garnet, sapphire, ruby, emerald, opals, Morganite, blue zircon, and many more. If you are interested in obtaining more information about colored gemstones used in an engagement ring please email or call me, I would be happy to discuss it with you.
